licorice (glycyrrhiza glabra l.) and dgl (deglycyrrhizinated licorice)	licorice extracts, dgl and carbenoxolone, have been studied for treating peptic ulcers. dgl (but not carbenoxolone) may offer some benefits. however, most studies are poorly designed and some results conflict. therefore, it is unclear whether there is any benefit from licorice for this condition.	c
turmeric (curcuma longa linn.) and curcumin	turmeric has been used historically to treat stomach and duodenal ulcers. however, at high doses or with prolonged use, turmeric may actually further irritate or upset the stomach. currently, there is not enough human evidence to make a firm recommendation.	c
